How to build strength & attributes in PES 2009 Become a Legend mode
We’ve been playing the Become a Legend mode since Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 came out, and here are our top tips to getting the most out of every match.
- Adjust your strengths according to your position - You need to adjust your strengths to match the attributes needed by the position of your player. So if you are playing as a winger then you will need to focus on speed, dribbling, and kicking. If you are playing as a centre midfielder you will need to focus on balance, kicking, and power. If you are playing as an attacker you will need to have good kicking, speed, and balance strengths. Defending positions will generally need stamina, power, and balance, however if you are playing as a wing-back you may need a little speed in your strength.
If you need a little help, just think of the top players in real life football who play in your position, and identify their top three to four strengths and adjust your strength blocks to those. - Stay in your designated area - You need to stay in your designated area in order to pick up good ratings, it is no good if you are a striker who plays too deep in defence, or playing as a center midfielder who spends most of the time on the right wing in the final third of the pitch! If you check your rating>details after each match, you will see where you are spending most of your time on the pitch.
- Pass, pass, pass! - Football is a team game and you will be rewarded a good rating if you make a lot of passes, just make sure they reach the player you are passing too or this could damage your rating.
- Avoid fouls - Playing a game of PES with just one player means you have the danger of making many fouls with the same player, and for every time you get booked three times you will receive a ban, not good for getting into the first team, or keeping a place in the team. Committing fouls also brings down your post-match rating.
- Be the heart of the team - If you play each and every game enthusiastically like it’s a final, making every touch count, closing down every attack then you will be rewarded by getting a good rating. Make every move you do count!
- Shoot on target - At the beginning of your career it is very hard to shoot and score, but the key to remember is that it’s important to shoot on target even if it’s not likely to go in. There is no point making wild or fancy shots when you have poor stats as they will just miss, damaging your post-match rating. Just get each and every shot on goal and you never know, you may get lucky and score a few.
- Play longer matches - If you are in the first team and are playing a tough team, then consider making the match length for 10minutes or over minimum. The longer the match lasts in real time, then the more chances you will get to build your attacks, or calm your defence, meaning you are more likely to get a better result for your player and you team.

whats the most important thing to make a rating ?
i am a cf .. and also how can i get new positions ?

When I was 17 in Legend, skill gains went up about 14 when I maxed certain skills to 6 blocks, was in english lge, then went to italia league now 19, and it only increase by about 8. how come?
I heard increases lessen when u r around 23 or over.. but im only 19! and playing winning some big games.
Brendan, i also played pes 2009 at ps 2, and i think you’re right….. It’ sucks……
So i ask my dad to upgrade my computer and now i can play pes 2009 on my PC…..
It’s lot better than ps 2, try it…..
how long does it take yo get my player better
i play pes2009 and always get 9.0-9.5..to get this rating u must score at least 4 goals and 2 assist..if u a cf dont play as cb ok
my team newcastle is no1 top club and i dont need to transfer to other club, stay with ur 1st club its better
Hey Liwaa, in order to get new positions you need to transfer to a team that is asking you to play a different position. i.e man united wanted to sign me, but as a SS not CF, so now i have both CF and SS as playable positions.
Does anyone know if you can actually find your legends own rating. I can see to be an international you need a rating around 6.6 and upwards. I have looked everywhere but cannot see my rating, so I have no idea if I am getting close to national standard or not.
Any pointers on this would be great.
how I get stars like dribbling ,scoring ,passing ?
Sorry, i am a newbie in this game, but how do you train specific skills?
Bin playin become a legend as a striker. In my 4th season now and my player still wudnt make the starting line-up of any premiership team stats wise! Im not doing 2 badly tho! Most of my goals have come from corners bt ive knotched up 60 in 99 appearances. Also, ive earned a scoring star at some point, not sure when tho lol. Started at Wigan then Newcastle and now im at Liverpool. Stil waiting 4 Man U 2 put an offer in 4 me
Can i get new positions? How do i get 2 b penalty taker/captain? Anybody?
I’ve played PES 2009 PS2 Become a legend mode for almost 26 hours. the results is not going forward and it is becoming every time boring that i had several times to stop the game for hours; to forget what is happening. most of the games results are square my player potentials are not showing any improvements, there should be something missing
Nice guide. btw, im making a center forward as we speak. got his stamina up to 80. now focusing on speed and kick technique.
here are the main attributes:
stamina - 80
top speed - 89
acceleration - 81
dribble speed - 80++
shot accuracy & tech - 75
heading - 75
what do you think? issit ok? im currently in 2nd season, aged 18.
oh..and i am putting zlatan ibrahimovic as my example..after enough speed i will put point into body balance.
bump. should have known that this thread is dead. sigh. bummer.
Thanx for your help but it is clear to any pro gamer! You can just compare yourself with best football players to find out how you can improve your real or no real abilities in football.First you shuold know any positions in the pitch. Each player in the pitch has a different duty. You should find your duties and improve yourself naturally. If you want to be a pro in one or two factors, you shuold focus on what you want more than the others;(Like speed or kicking, etc).
It is the general hint you can use in your life or your game. But don’t forget,”LIFE IS A GAME.TRY TO BE A PRO PLAYER.”
need help wid my finishing plzz get bk
For PS2
Passing, Shots on target are the key when you start off.
Games will get much better the more games you play, Started in Sunderland, now signed for Barca and Euro player of the year, and won Euro Championship with Ireland… Really great fun!
Funny- I’m playing 5 min halfs, and I’m scoring 5-10 goals per game, and my team (Valladolid) have won 29 straight since I got here.
My stats
28 matches, 151 goals, 2 assists, 26 MVPs, 9.2 average rating.
My main tip would be ot make yourself available for the easy pass, as anyone can dribble past their defence once you have the ball. Make yourself an obvious target for your team.
Hey i dont understand, when u go on legend do u just do tarning for the first team all the time or do u atleast get to play a real game?
Coz when i was on i just did games against you’re own team mates i never got a real game, and it gets boring… i am a bit confused about it. Can u help me?
psn: schlep16
im in become a legend on xbox360 and won all the titles and medals apart from the “WORLD PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD” how do i get this?? please help of give me sum tips many thanx dude!
As I played Become a Legend so far, I noticed that the easiest way to get a good rating is to score goals. Doesn´t matter so much your performance for the rest of the match, so keep in mind that, if you score and your team ends up as winner, probably you´ll be rated as the “most valuable player” in that occasion.
Having this in mind, I went for a CF position with some points in Balance, Dribbling Speed, Shoot Accuracy and Weak Foot Accuracy. Personally I think Balance as the most important one. It´s annoying to see your player falling at aech contact with other players.
Awrite lads,
I’ve just started playing it again for the first time in over a month (had exams which finished today - woohoo!) Played every ISS and Pro Ev there’s been and to be honest 2009 is phenomenal.
My tips for BaL are quite simple, when you’re starting out put all your strength blocks into two stats, speed is crucial at the start as there’s no point being able to tackle, header, shoot or do anything at all if you always get beaten to the ball or closed down too quicky. So I’d say full strength on speed til you’re high 70s then you can maybe drop it down to 4 blocks.
The others I changed about a bit but always kept at least 4 blocks to whatever I was training. If you’re a CM, like me, I’d recommend you get your stamina up to atleast 90, I’ve been at 93 since I was 21. I’m 23 now and last season won the golden boot for the Premiership with Spurs, golden boot for the league cup, made European Team of the Year and World Team of the Year.
My tactics on the pitch are quite simple, I’ve got 93 stamina so I can sprint a hell of a lot, don’t chase the ball too much but make sure you’re putting pressure on the man with the ball or marking a likely pass so you can intercept it. If one of your defenders (usually your full backs) are caught out of position then try to cover for them.
Make a lot of runs forward calling for passes but don’t try to skin every player you meet. The best thing about 2009’s gameplay is that it is very realistic, even Christiano Ronaldo and Kaka don’t try to take on every player. If you’re under pressure make a simple pass and then make a run. Rack up lots of simple passes and don’t forget that chip-through-ball works a charm in 2009 if you see the run being made - CM seem to have a better long pass than short.
If you’re shooting isn’t all that good then you really need to think about your body stance before you shoot. If you are facing at an angle away from the goal you’ll almost never score unless you have really good shooting. Don’t try to smack it, about half a second will give you a decent strike if your body is set right. If you get in close remember your guy will sometimes take a second or so to get the shot off, especially if your response is low, and the keeper can rush out and take the ball from you as you watch your power bar waiting for your guy to strike it. Try to make the keeper go the other way i.e. a wee turn in the box never hurts unless a defender is all over your back. If you are turning try double tapping R2 as you do it for closer ball control.
Patience is the best attitude to take when starting out. I’ve spent a total of 4.5 seasons at Spurs having started with Villa and then Blackburn for half a season each. A wee half season loan spell at Portsmouth broke up my time at Spurs before I signed for Man U (having scored 14 goals in the first half of the season at Spurs). I’ll come on to my time at Man U in a second. After half a season at Man U I signed for Lyon and am just over half way through my first season with them.
I have found one flaw in choosing which team to go to. I got an offer from Man U and thought, brilliant, I’m made. Except that, despite the money they gave me, they weren’t doing all that well. They were 4th in the league and not too far off and I looked at the names on their team page (if someone knows how to look at the stats of players in anoter team let me know!!!) and didn’t really see anyone I recognised. But I though, “Hey it’s Man U they must be good players)…Our keeper had 82 keeper skills, central defenders both had 79 for defence. So many goals were conceded during my time there that my contribution of 8 in the league didn’t get us above 5th. Ironically, Spurs won the league. My point is that just because you think they’re a big team doesn’t mean they still have good players and since you have no way of looking at player stats outwith your team I suggest you spend a fair bit of time looking at their recent match records and don’t always go by the team rankings.
Anyway, that’s enough rambling on. Back to BaL.
Liwaa,
The rating is important because it helps you to play for a bigger club, i suggest start off with regular mode and then once your haapy with your players stats then you can advance it to professional and top player.
I think more points you get the quicker your stats becomes better as a player.
Once you have chosen your position, you cant really change position, one think i notice if you play as a CF, you can play as AMF or CMF depending on which team you play for most of the time its a mid table teams who ask you to play at specific positions.
i hope that helps.
I am playing as CF for tottenham, and hoping Liverpool come by but they have torres and Vila up front.
brendan, its takes time for your player to have a a pretty good stats, if you cant be bothered to player for several season before your player comes good, i suggest to skip through half the season and then wait up till 2014. another thing on your players strength put 5 bars speed and 4 bar Power, and 3 bar kicking till season 2013.
THANKZ U HELPED BIIIIG!!!!
been playing it for 5 seasons or so now started off at almeria then real betis then valencia now ath madrid on top player so uknow always have played pes on top player i find my team never goes forward the passes are ridiculous like 150 passes in a build up they would rather pass back than forward i am a centre forward and find i have to drop deep a lot to get the ball and i like to link up with the wingers this makes it easier ive had 3 career hat tricks so far about 50 goals in 150 games or so not sure round about 40 - 50 anyways had about 77 man of the match awards about 27 mip player awards and my stats are just starting to all reach the 75 green level now speed is high dribble is high since i got the game i have done nothing else but play this i think the control of one player gets u a rough idea of the movement u need when playing with a full team and its for ps3 so u know dont know if everyone gets the problem with to much passing around and not setting up most goals i score are dribble with the r2 button i find this easy going from side to side to skin centre backs r1 in the pro games do nothing for me it makes u miss control the ball dummy the ball when u press it i never use r1 and have always been good at the game hardly ever lose gonna start playing online soon hope to see some of u on the pes rankings site and the guy who said hes scored 158 goals in 28 games get a grip m8 beginner level or not u aint scoring thatmany goals with 5 min games in 28 games 158 goals lmfao lmfao lmfao
which attributes d oi use to improve my stats for a Center Forward
what can you do with you’re salary in which you earn at clubs. I havn’t got a clue where that money goes…anyone know?
Cheers
Just slightly confused, I currrently have 6 bars for speed and after a full match I only develope 9 strength experience points per game, I taught it should be 12???
One more thing, how do I get match experience points (I never manage to get this development), if anyone can assist I would highly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
