Konami has announced that PES 2009 will feature the UEFA Champions League licence, and that they have rights to the licence for the next four years, meaning that PES 2010, 2011, and 2012 all all feature the Champions League.
Pro Evo News previously reported on that PES 2009 would feature Champions League football.
This confirms that Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 will contain all elements, branding, and attributes of the UEFA Champions League. Unfortunantly the Champions League will be a seperate game mode to the Master League, which is not great news, but at least it does have the new game mode.
The addition of this licence means that PES2009 is turning out to be one of the most realistic versions of the series so far.
A Konami spokesperson is quoted:
“The Pro Evolution Soccer series is synonymous with football being played at the highest level, which makes it perfect for hosting the best club football competition in the world”, commented UEFA. “We are delighted that PES 2009 will feature the UEFA Champions League and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Konami.”
“This deal showcases our commitment to taking PES 2009 forward in terms of licences and realism,” commented Kunio Neo, President for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “The UEFA Champions League is the jewel in the club competition crown, and is just one of many innovations we have lined up for the new game.”
It is currently unknown whether the PES 2009 Demo will feature any references to the Champions League
